Why become a fan if you have no idea??????

First of all my heatrfelt congratulations to the SLUMDOG crew especially to Mr. Rehman and Danny Boyle..........Seriously it feels quite good that someone from India actually won a Globe.......an event that has honestly been dominated by American and British actors.....not that i have a problem with that coz i jus cant imagine Kate Winslet, Leo. DeCaprio and Anner hathaway at our Filmfares.....well not at this juncture...............

Ok so this post is going to be about a weird trend that I've encountere for quite some time....well as long ive been on Social Networking Sites(you dont wanna know my opinion about them.....and i dont want debates on my already crappy blog).......Well the trend is pretty irritating i tell you......It goes like this, just when "something" becomes immensely popular or is overhyped in the newspaper or any other form of media.....everybody suddenly has to join the community or become a FAN of a group based on that "something".........EVEN IF THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS ABOUT...........ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA!!!!!!!!!!

This is where Slumdog Millionaire jumps in......it so happened that quite a no. of my friends became fans of three different SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE groups........I mean WHAT CRAP???? Ok goood that a movie based on India, Mumbai especially is doing so well and getting international acclaim.....BUT i ask these friends of mine......HOW MANY OF YOU GUYS ACTUALLY KNOW ABOUT THE MOVIE??????........FOR CRYIN OUT LOUD ITS NOT EVEN BEEN RE4LEASED HERE (*IRONICALLY ENOUGH)!!!!!.......atleast see the movie first, think about it and then become a fan of the group.......I bet ppl became fans of Ghajini in the same way............And honestly how can ppl even treat these 2 movies in a similar fashion....well as far as becoming a fan is concerned???????

Im sorry i just hate pseudo popularity and NO BRAINERS like this trend............It just F!CKING pisses me off...................

Just like one leading newspaper mentioned "Slumdog.....is like every other bollywood movie just made for the Hollywood audience"....well does that include having a plot which is actually intelligent?????? And by this im not sayin that all bollywood movies have intelligent plots.........some of them really do!!!!!!! Or all Hollywood plots are intelligent. Theyre definitely NOT......but they at least try to make some sense!!!!!!!

And please you dont have to agree on this one with me.....i can definitely fight out my argument well enough............

Come to think about it....intelligent plot or not.....its because of ppl. like my friends that any film fraternity rake in the MOOLAH!!!!!!!!!!!

50th Birthday

My First Trip To DARYAGANJ..........drumroll please!!!!!!

Hey there so this is a post id like to dedicate to the absolutely wonderful day I had yesterday when Andy and I went to old delhi.......DARYAGANJ to be specific, a place which i atlesast have had very little exposure too.....EXCEPT for chandni chowk, the wild eid rush and of course the king of mughlai gastronomy KARIMS(Nizams rocks too by the way!!!!!).......Bear with me ppl. this was a very interesting TRIP!!!!!

Sooo i got this call from Andy day before yesterday and he was like DUDE lets go to this SUNDAY book sale which takes place where books are DIRT cheap......I being a BOOK FANATIC obviously agreed......The plan was to meet up at JHANDEWALAN station!!!!! JHANDEWALAN......hmmmmmmm i was like why do we get off at jhandewalan to go to OLD DELHI. Anyways Andy planned the trip...so he was THE BOSS.....we didnt deviate much from our target except for an additional TEN BUCKS which we lost to a very ecstatic AUTO-WALA with a couple of front teeth missing and who was very very eager to tell us about an important delivery of blankets(??????) he had to deliver in NOIDA.......ANyways he was a nice guy and at least smiled when we gave him the money........oh he also said THANK YOU.......doesnt happen nowadays DOES IT???????

So there we were in the middle of OLD DELHI....a place which both of us would surely have never ventured into while in SCHOOL.....coz our cojones werent strong enough!!!!!! As far as we were concerned it couldve been DEAD mans land...BUT we were two WEIRD dudes on a missin.....TO GET THE MAXIMUM NO. OF BOOKS with the minimum amt. of BALANCE(CHEAP.....i know!!!! but hey i dont care about what u may feel)

All i knew about DARYAGANJ was that you could buy COURSE materials of possibly all INSTITUTES like FIIT JEE, VIDYAMANDIR etc. etc. etc. Mind you this info was given by my very unfriendly FIIT JEE friends.........So i was excpecting hawkers screamin "VIDYAMANDIR PHYSICS......50% off, bas aaj ke liye......jaldi aaiye"........BUT what i saw amazed me......wait maybe AMAZED is too small a word......................................

Not only were ppl. selling VMC, SRI CHAITANYA material.....but everything from PAULO COELHO to TOM CLANCY; FREDERICK FORSEYTH to CHETAN BHAGAT.....the place was a madhouse.....honestly at one point i felt so dizzy just going through all the books.....NO CROSSWORD, LANDMARK....or any other bookstore Ive been too has SOOOOOO many books.........I bet these guys got THE WHITE TIGER before it hit major retail bookstores....and they were offering a NICE CRISP 100 Rs. DISCOUNT TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!GOD this was my kinda place.......i felt at home.....HONESTLY!!!!!!

I was supposed to help Andy in buying a couple of good books....but i was picking up every other book and telling him it was good....AND TRUST ME THEY WERE!!!! Ive been tryin to find a copy of The Hunt FOr Red October by Tom Clancy for quite some time and i found a nice old 1970something edition with sepia pages and a TORN COver.....but heck i found it!!!

That place is discount heaven but ya you really need to search to get the perfect deal and also the book you want, in a READABLE condition!!!!! Anyways time wasnt much of a constraint for us 2 VELAS...or is that only one...ANYWAYS!!!!! We ended up buying about 4 or 5 books at DIRT CHEAP PRICES............can u believe i got a perfect copy of BLACK HAWK DOWN for just 20 bucks......TWO ZERO only!!!!!!! I wouldve bought the whole street if i had cash..........

Oh just when we were getting tired of books we found a guy who was sending LPs in perfect condition. The records even had the plastic covering on them........NEVER BEEN USED and discarded by some rich bloke who just got the latest SONY HI-FI system!!!!!! both of us wanted to put up some records in our room just for decor. purposes and boy were we pumped.....the guy(who had the yellowest teeth and widest smile i had ever seen.....NOT A NICE COMBO......TRUST ME!!!!!) gave us 6 records for 80 bucks and one LP in CHANDNI CHOWK costs 150 bucks!!!!! EUTOPIA...................WHIPEEEEEEEE

I know most of the ppl reading this have already been there, done that. BUT hey it was a revelation for both of us......IT was the first time we had gone PIRATED BOOK shopping and somehow im feeling it wont be the last............WINK

BUT HEY im in COLLEGE now..........im a little light on the pocket and ya ive got a hunger to read.........it was the easiest thing to do........................DUNNO why im justifying myself....i hate guilty feelings

Shaart Tum Memri Laass(a.k.a. SHORT TERM MEMORY LOSS in English)

Well i saw the much hyped GHAJINI a few days ago.................and i am not a movie critic or something BUT i really felt that the actors and the director didnt do justice to the plot....Seriously for a movie like that theres no NEED for any song sequences and songs like BEHKA,GUZARISH etc. just pop up out of the blue...I mean i saw memento too and thats how you make a movie, just based on the RAW POWER of actors....Anyways!!!

Before you decide that my English is pretty bad(which you might have guessed by the way ive written the heading) I have to clarify that "Shaart Tum Memri Laass" is how Mr. GHAJINI says it in the movie GHAJINI.....no offense all you ghajinis out there but WHO would name their boy GHAJINI..............Anyways just like Mr. Aamir khan suffered from anterograde amnesia I too suffer from "Shaart Tum Memri Laass"............................

Though its of a different kind......I dont forget things every 15 minutes but I do forget one particular thing and i get royally rogered by my friends because of that.....I FORGET DATES and NUMBERS!!!!! NO, seriously I AM pretty BAD at remembering important dates like BIRTHDAYS, EVENTS....you name it!!!!!

Its like you tell me your birthday right now and ask me 5 mins. later.......I guarantee that Ill not remember it.........Its been like this since GOD KNOWS how long and HONESTLY ive been punched, whacked on the back quite a no. of times for forgetting things.....BUT the upside is that i remember other things quite well....like places ive visited, peoples faces AND I HAVE A RETTY GOOD ROAD SENSE..........
The only dates i do remember are my parents' birthdays, my dogs birthday and and......ummmmm YA my birthday. On the contrary my mom remembers everything.....SHES LIKE A WALKING TALKING PHONEBOOK!!!!!!!!!! In fact it so happens that at the starting of the month my mom has to tell me that there are X no. of birthdays coming up of this and this person............GOD!!! what is it with dates anyways????? Its just NUMBERS.........numbers that matter....but still JUST NUMBERS!!!!!!!

Maybe I should start tattooing important dates and phone no's on my body.........AT LEAST its a good enough reason to get a tattoo or is it not......HMMMMMMM.

Anyways my deep dark secret is out, so next time if anyone has a birthday coming up or anything important which i should know about PLEASE PLEASE dont hesitate on giving me a reminder, maybe a day or a couple of minutes before..........coz FRANKLY "Shaart Tum Memri Laass" SUCKS!!!!!

Ya well thats from Wikipedia......and before you get any misconception....let me clarify a couple of things.......
I, Abin Biswas; am not a WOMANISER!!!!! i mean come on im mirror cracking material....im a walking talking threat to a Saint Gobain glass showroom....LITERALLY. Neither do i have an attitude which is generally common amongst the "kind" of ppl. whom we sooo lovingly mark as WOMANISERS or CASANOVAS(good going giacamo!!!!!you intellectual, adventuruos brat......). Seriously ask anyone who knows me and theyll probably use adjectives as funny, intelligent, weird, whacky.....to name a few and not SEDUCTOR, WOMANISER or even CHICK MAGNET!!!!!


Ok sorry for scaring you with that para......its a long story actually. And whenever i think of it i get PISSED off. Like i said in my previous post, im studying in SRM University Chennai. Its not a bad place but we got certain conventional beliefs running around which are actually quite irritating!!!!!!! And poor innocent me(no pun intended!!!!) actually became a VICTIM of the whacky vibes there. It so happens that I like to talk to ppl......of any sex, caste, creed and trust me ppl enjoy having convertsations with me too!!!!! I mean i cant help it if im a friendly guy and not a big snob or a bully(which is actually the first impression ppl get of me, wherever i go!!). So there i was after the first week of college chatting with some of my female classmates.....when suddenly i look arond and i notice all the other guys of my class showing me a big THUMBS UP!!! I kinda got confused and talked to these blokes after class.....well the first thing they told me was:-"Wah bhai, delhi vale bade tez hote hain....itni jaldi ladki bhi pata li. thodi humai bhi madat karde laundiyabazi karne mein!!". It took me a couple of seconds to understand what he was saying after which i was DUMBSTRUCK. It was as if i had been struck by a freakin bolt of lightning.....I was being called a laundiyabaaz, a WOMANISER......Never through my 11 years in a boys school, and 2 years in a co-ed had such an insult(well ya i guess womanisers are assholes!!!!) been hurled at me. All i could think was "oh man, oh man...I hope the chick i was talking too didnt think the same way".....and I was soo scared coz the word spreads fast over there...............VERY VERY FAST!!!!!! And well it did....next thing i know my roomie comes into the room....at a very bad time(i was tryin to make heads and tails of the civil engg. course) and he tells me....DUDE youve been hooked up with two chicks....AND I JUST FELL OFF MY BED!!!! Literally....................
So the next day one of the girls im supposedly hooked up too asked me whether i was hooked up to another person C, whom i apparently eye around a lot in class!!!!!!!!! Gosh 24 hours and i just went from mr. nice guy too FEMALE FLYTRAP...... I clarified that i wasnt interested in anyone....and i told her about the rumor according to which both of us wewe hooked up...AND ALL SHE DID WAS SMILE......ummm im still pretty confused about what that meant...........

What im trying to say is that in my college it so happens that once youre seen talking to or hanging out with any member of the opposite sex...its taken for granted that you two are going out....EVEN if youre talking to your cousin or BEST FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!
GOSH that just makes me sick...........................

A couple of days later i was sitting in my class doing mathematics when suddenly every guy around me started singing the lines from "mera pehla pehla pyar"....i looked around and i saw a girl i know come in, and talk to the maths teacher......wow all i could do at that moment was just stare out the window(which is just next to my seat..mind you) while the entire class....guys and girls both chuckled to their hearts glory and looked at me.......

Im the kinda guy who hates violence and confusion....so like a lamb sitting at the butchers table i kept mum and didnt pay any attention to all the crappy rumors about me and my "CASANOVAISH" personality...............
The fact of the matter is that ppl are so VELA that they dont know how to mind their own buisness and just try to make a fool of themselves by interfering in everyone elses private matters......and creating unecessary FAKE rumors. I mean come on would any sane, intelligent person give a shit about whom im talkin or hangin out with. I might be dating a stupidplant for crying out loud....DOES IT MATTER!!!!! I guess my fellow "SRMites" really need to grow up.....I really wonder whether ppl over there realise the seriousness of a relationship or does everyone have an "OK LETS HOOK THESE 2 PPL UP, JUST FOR GAGS!!!!"


Oh for the record as of December 2008, Abin "Casanova" Biswas has been linked up with 5 girls, and 2 guys. Well there you have it im a phenomenon according to these ppl. And if you havent noticed they even questioned my sexuality.....calling me "BI"..............LOSERS!!!!

Anyways at the end of the day its actually quite hillarious and since its been happening for the last 4 months ive kinda gotten used to ppl giving me the stares...and talking behind my back.............WOW and i thought i was weird!!!!!!!!
